Creating a Coupon Offer
There are several ways coupons and special offers can be created depending on what you want to achieve.
Printed Coupon for $ off an Item
This section outlines a coupon offer which has the following attributes- A preprinted or emailed coupon is created and issued to customers in your database
- The coupon itself is using the same barcode to all customers, so can be bulk printed. It is not using individual barcodes per customer
- The offer is a $ discount to be applied to a sale
- Optionally restricted to one use per customer
- The Pos will automatically exclude account payments and gift cards - customers cannot use these offers for those purposes
From the main report page, select "Pricing" and then "Coupon Offers"
Once the coupon is defined, if the barcode is scanned onto a sale within the date range, the Pos will "sell" the product onto the active sale with the price being set to the negative FaceValue. In the above example, scanning the barcode 789789789 would add product# 11021 for -$260.00
Printed Coupon for a range of items
This section outlines a coupon offer which has the following attributes- A preprinted or emailed coupon is created and issued to customers in your database
- The coupon itself is using the same barcode to all customers, so can be bulk printed. It is not using individual barcodes per customer
- The offer uses a pricemap which means you can target specific customers/products/departments
- The offer can be fixed amount or discount percentage
- The Pos will automatically exclude account payments and gift cards - customers cannot use these offers for those purposes
- You can block customers with pricebands (trade customers etc) from using this offer
To create this type of offer
- From the home page /report/pos/sshome.htm click "Pricing"
- On the Pricing screen, select "Manage Pricemaps"
- When on the pricemaps screen, click "Add New" and enter the required details
- It is important you enter some kind of triggering barcode to activate the offer, otherwise it will apply to all sales automatically, and might block being able to select customers once items have been added to the sale
- When triggering you typically will want to enable "Reprice Sale" so that if the coupon is added near the end of the sale existing items are repriced. If not enabled then the offer only applies from the time it is scanned forward. Repricing sales can have side effects in some retailers with complex pricing rules. We suggest testing it in your environment if you think you may have complex offers.
