Microsoft Excel is blocking the Fieldpine XLL addin
When opening Excel you may receive a message saying the XLL is untrusted and is blocked from being loaded. This is due to a policy change in Microsoft Excel and is not caused by Fieldpine.
Microsoft has an article explaining the change and solution. Excel is blocking untrusted Excel addins by Default
In a nutshell, what you need to do is:
- Open Windows Explorer and navigate to where the Excel addin is located.
- Right click on the file and select "Properties"
- There is a warning saying "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer". Tick the "unblock" option and follow the instructions.
If you need help with these instructions, contact your PC support team, or Windows support team.
Side note. When looking at the file, people often see the certificate signing the file is out of date. This does not impact this issue as Fieldpine
sign all programs using "timestamping". If we didnt timestamp certificates then sites would need to be constantly updating versions. Expired certificates only
mean that validity date from when the signing certificates were valid has expired, not that this signed program is invalid.
